About the reviewer
Christopher Smith
I write Small Biz Cyber Guide for owners and managers who need to buy security tools without the noise. The angle is simple: what works for small teams, what is overkill, and what vendors leave out of the marketing page.
Background (honest version)
I work in offensive security — finding weaknesses before someone else does. My experience includes penetration testing work connected to DTE Energy and prior time at POOLCORP. That background shapes how I review products: I care less about feature checklists and more about whether a tool reduces real risk for people who are not full-time IT staff.
I am not a vendor salesperson, and I am not a “top 10 tools” content farm. When a product is a poor fit for a five-person remote shop, I will say so. When a cheaper option covers the job, I will say that too.
What this site is (and is not)
- Is: Buyer guides for password managers, business VPN, endpoint protection, backup, and MFA — aimed at small businesses and remote teams.
- Is: Clear affiliate disclosures when a link may earn a commission.
- Is not: Fear-mongering, fake urgency, or invented statistics.
- Is not: Formal product certification, penetration testing of every vendor, or personalized consulting in every article.
No overclaim: Guides reflect practitioner judgment and public documentation. They are not a substitute for your own due diligence, legal advice, or a scoped assessment of your environment.
How recommendations work
Comparisons use business/team tiers when they exist. Pricing language stays in ranges or “check current pricing” so we do not pretend a screenshot from last quarter is still accurate. Affiliate link slots are marked in the source until programs are approved; after that, live links still carry disclosure on the page.
